Colorado Access Announces Sponsorship of the Dr. James G. Mann Scholarship
AURORA, Colo. – Colorado Access is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Dr. James G. Mann Scholarship, established in partnership with the Denver Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Foundation (DKAPSF). The inaugural scholarship will be awarded annually and honors Dr. James G. Mann, Colorado’s first African American gastroenterologist. Mann’s legacy of perseverance, leadership, and commitment includes serving as the medical director and president of the medical staff at St. Anthony Hospital and co-founding Gastroenterology Associates, P.C.
The scholarship winners receive $2,000 in their first year of college and $1,500 per year for the next three years. Applicants must be pursuing an education in health care. The first recipient of the Colorado Access-sponsored scholarship is Paulos Bamlaku, a Regis Jesuit High School graduate. Bamlaku is studying biology on a pre-medical track at the University of Colorado Boulder, demonstrating a strong commitment to health care and academic excellence.
“Supporting future health care leaders supports our mission to advance health equity and improve access to care,” said Bobby King, vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Colorado Access. “The Dr. James G. Mann Scholarship not only honors a remarkable medical pioneer but also invests in the next generation of diverse health care professionals.”
Through this sponsorship, Colorado Access reaffirms its commitment to fostering equity in education and health care, ensuring that talented students have the opportunity to further their education and contribute to their communities.
