Colorado Access Chief Medical Officer Honored with the Copic Humanitarian Award

AURORA, Colo. – Colorado Access is proud to celebrate Dr. William Wright, chief medical officer, as the 2024 Colorado recipient of the Copic Humanitarian Award. The honor,  awarded by Copic and the Colorado Medical Society recognizes physicians whose volunteer efforts leave a lasting impact on their communities.

With a career spanning more than four decades, Dr. Wright’s work has helped shape policy, improve access to care, and strengthen the health care landscape across Colorado. As a board member for the Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP) since 2014, Dr. Wright has offered his expertise and support through changes in the health care landscape and challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. He has been an ongoing advocate for physician health and well-being, playing a critical role in advancing initiatives such as the development of the Doc2Doc Wellbeing Consulting Program. The program has provided support to health care professionals facing burnout and stress.

“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from Copic,” said Dr. Wright. “Supporting the health and well-being of my colleagues has been one of the most meaningful aspects of my career. Physicians dedicate their lives to caring for others, and ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive is essential for the future of health care.”

Dr. Wright’s dedication to the medical community extends beyond CPHP. He has served in leadership roles for organizations such as the, the Colorado Institute for Value in Health Care (CIVHC), The Colorado Trust, the Colorado Institute for Family Medicine (CIFM), and the Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert Medical Society Board (ADEMS).

Dr. Wright was celebrated with a tribute on the floor of the Colorado House of Representatives on March 14, 2025. As part of the COPIC Humanitarian Award, Dr. Wright has designated a $10,000 donation to CPHP, furthering its mission to support health care professionals throughout the state.
