University of Colorado Hospital Ranks Top 50
Colorado Access is proud to announce that one of their key founding partners, University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) made the ranking for US News & World Report’s 2011 “Best Hospitals”.
US News & World Report surveyed 10,000 specialists and researched almost 5,000 hospitals in 16 adult specialties and 10 pediatric specialties. Only 140 hospitals were nationally selected in one or more specialty. UCH was among the top 50 in the country for multiple specialties. This is the 17th consecutive year it has ranked in more than one specialty and for 2011, it was recognized for:
- Cancer: ranked #34 (#44 in 2010)
- Nephrology: ranked #16 (#15 in 2010)
- Neurology & Neurosurgery: ranked #50 (not ranked for this specialty in 2010) Pulmonology: ranked #1 (#8 in 2010)
- Rheumatology: ranked #17 (#19 in 2010)
In addition, the magazine ranked UCH as the #1 hospital in the Denver metropolitan area. This is the second consecutive year it has been selected for best overall in the primary service area. Nationwide, UCH shares the top-in-the-country ranking in pulmonology with National Jewish Health.
As part of its metro rankings, the magazine recognized “high-performing” specialties that weren’t nationally ranked, but landed in the top 25 percent of the 5,000 hospitals in the survey. At UCH, it ranked these specialties:
- Cardiology & Heart Surgery (not ranked last time)
- Diabetes & Endocrinology
- Ear, Nose & Throat
